Darren McClure - The Black Kite

from Birds of a Feather 3-4 by Darren McClure and The Green Kingdom

about

Black kites are a familiar sight and sound above Naraigawa, a river near my home where I often go for walks. The kites fly between the surrounding mountains and the river looking for food, probably fish and mice, and have a distinct cry. I do a lot of field recordings along this river area, and so included environmental sounds as well as the sounds of the kites themselves in this piece, as the two are so connected in my mind. These field recordings were made in the summer of 2012 and this piece was put together in the following autumn for the Birds of a Feather series.
